Projects

The City of Fayetteville completes numerous projects annually in order to maintain the quality of life our citizens deserve and have come to expect. These projects include infrastructure improvements identified in the Capital Improvement Program; construction projects overseen by the Engineering and Transportation Divisions relating to sewer and water lines, streets and drainage, sidewalks, trails, and traffic calming; and other various projects.

Capital Improvements Program

The 2006-2010 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) in the amount of $95,575,000 was adopted by the Fayetteville City Council on Tuesday, December 6, 2005.

Engineering

The Engineering Division provides for the in-house surveying and engineering and management of contract engineering services in connection with the Capital Improvements Program (CIP); provides oversight of construction services in connection with water lines, sanitary sewer, streets, and drainage; and provides administration of the other programs of the division.

Parks and Recreation

The Parks and Recreation Division manages the city’s park system, administers the Parkland Dedication Ordinance, provides numerous recreational opportunities for citizens and oversees various other city projects, such as the Downtown Square.

Transportation

The Transportation Division provides the maintenance, construction, safety and operation of city streets, sidewalks, rights-of-way, traffic and trail construction programs.  They currently maintain approximately 400 miles of streets as well as 300 miles of sidewalks. They are also responsible for 200 miles of drainage ditches and expansion construction of the city trails program.
